Getting Started

I tried to join Folding at Home tonight. I downloaded the screensaver version. I set the screensaver to 1 minute, so that I could answer the start up questions and to see the screensaver work.
I have Zone Alarm Pro for a firewall. As it's norm, it asked to allow a new program acess to the internet. And every time, before I can move the mouse to click yes, the cursor disappears, and no keyboard. The activity light, for the HD is blinking, so something is going on.
Any thoughts?thanks;
Dragstk

    Manually instruct the firewall to give FAH permission to traverse.

    Glad to have another prospective member!:wave:

    It may just be a set up issue.
    You could turn ZA off and dl fah.
    Then turn it back on and give permission to send and recive.

    Thanks guys for your help. As is with a lot of things in life, when it rains, it pours. I have discovered some serious instabilities in my computer. (I was sort of misled by someone I thought they knew what they were doing.) But, lesson learned, new parts are on the way.
    So, I will be joining Team 93 ASAP.
    Thanks again;

    F@H will prove weak links in any given rig. Many have found that they had to back-off OC'ing a small amount to give a firmer stability.

    You picked a good team. ;)

    First piece of advice: Get rid of the SS. Its crap, has problems with some OpenGL drivers, and slows down production (drawing the purdy pics instead of doing work).

    Second piece of advice: Get rid of the SS.;)
