I just bought farcry today. I and some friends have played the demo and it was good, but there was this sound glitch where gunshots stop making noise and the music disappears. This happend on multiple machines. All have the motherboard in common. I have an asus a7n8x-e my friend has another version of the a7n8x motherboard. Ive tried changing the sound settings, but this still happends. It happends about 10 - 20 minutes of gameplay.

ive updated my nforce drivers and sound drivers and all.

any ideas?

I have the same problems sometimes/most of the time... I have about the same motherboard as you guys. A7N8X Deluxe with soundstorm also. I would really like to get an answer to our problem. But maybe the next patch (1.2) will fix it. Or maybe the next nForce update will. But I have read about the problem before but I didn't get a solution to the problem. But ppl with Audigy and stuff like that also have the problem, so let's just hope it will be fixed in patch 1.2 :)
Also it doesnt work until I have rebooted the entire computer, not just the game :(

I'm using the NF7-s and also have this problem. Not only do the gun shot sounds dissapear but also cut scene dialogue. I have tried a couple different driver versions as well as fiddled with the settings in farcry so Im almost certain its going to be a problem resolved by a patch. Lemme know if you guys hear anything different.

well, i hate to break it to you, but this is a fairly common and well-documented problem with soundstorm and farcry. sleepstalker (he is a member here, i might be able to get him to make a post) had told me about this problem at our last lan party, and i think he was able to use some custom drivers or some different drivers and was able to get it to work. either that, or he just gave up on far cry, in which case you guys might be out of luck until new driver/patches are out. however ,i DO know this is well documented, so maybe try looking around on google to see if there are any workarounds or anything. and i'll round up sleepstalker and see if he has any advice, cuz i believe this problem has been around since far cry hit the market . . .

I'm not sure about this, but for a while I played the game without any problems... I had the newest nforce. But then I just wanned to try to download the driver on Win Update for the sound also... I think I installed the newest nForce driver again afterwards. And the look has changed in nForce panel also. And it might have been after that the problem occured... but there's a lot of doubt. But if I were to reinstall the system I will not install drivers for my precious audio on Win Update...
