How to turn on 8X!!!?

Hi. I have a Radeon 9600 Pro. I didn't pay much attention to this but i noticed that when i go to "Control Pannel/Settings/Advanced/SMARTGART(tm)" the AGP speed is set to OFF. If I put it on 8X or even 4X, after restarting the machine it is still set to OFF.
In BIOS it is set to 8X. I don't even know what's the problem here, may be driver. But i tried it with every version 3.7-4.4.

    Change it in the BIOS before you boot.

    Like I said, it is set to 8X in BIOS.

    Whats your graphic aperature size set to? If thats too low that could cause problems too. It wants to be at least 64mb but anything up to half the amount of system RAM you have is good.
