WinXP Boot to desktop help please!
Hi peeps,
I recently got a new WinXP machine & when I boot, it simply boots to the WinXP desktop which is great. I am the Admin & no one else uses my machine.
A couple days ago, I booted & it no longer boots directly to the desktop. Now it boots to a screen with my name atop a little block with a pic of a chess set in it. I now have to click on block below my name & then the machine goes to the desktop. I don't have to enter a password or anything but have to do the extra step now.
I noticed that in my "User Accounts" tab I see that a new user called "ASP.NET Machine A" has been added.
It's not a big deal, but what can I do to to avoid having to deal with that extra step?? I just want to boot & get to my desktop.
Thank You
Lennyn

As for getting rid of it, I forget exactly where it is but I'd check in your control panel in the users area there should be a toggle in there that allows you to adjust the way that screen functions.
However if I recal you can't have it automatically go into the administrators account if there is another user account on it. So you could have it go directly into that ASP account. Or get rid of the ASP account and it should then go into the Admin account.
Here is more info on your mystery account:
ASP.NET Machine A
But yeah, tweakui will do the job, its one of those little tools I can never be without.
Actually I installed Broderbund's Printmaster 16 & it installed net framework & the ASP.net user account. I went into "User Accounts" & deleted the "ASP.NET" user account & that took care of it. Now it again boots directly into the Desktop.
Thanks guys for all the assistance, I really appreciate the info.
