w00p :jelly:

Zalman actually said the optional fan for this heatsink would be required for GeForce 5900's, but so far I haven't had any probs (even in this hot weather).

Does your vid card have a temperature sensor?
or was it only 5950 that has it? I know some high end vid cards do.

I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have a sensor.

All FX59xx series cards should have a temp sensor. Just check in your nVidia control panel area. If you have a 5900NU or U you may consider looking into flashing it to a 5950 Ultra ... you'll get a permanent overclock (unless you flash back to the orig. bios) and if you're videocard still has fans over it they'll speed up cooling down your card even more.

I've checked the control panel. No temp. monitor. Just an overclocking utility tho.

The Zalman sandwich is very popular nowadays

Next graphics card I'll buy will definitly have a temp sensor, it's a great aid in overclocking imo.

I did an "auto detect" in the overclocking control in the NV cpanel and it adjusted itself to Ultra frequencies :loco: But I backed things down to 435/780 (Gainward says this'll run at 450/780. Stock is 390/700) and I'm slowly increasing it.

Definately good stuff if you ask me.

The two 80mm fans in front of my case are also virtually unobstructed from the gfx card so that should help.

Hey, my 5600 has temp sensor, but you have to install software and I don't think I can disable it from popping up when starting windows so I don't use it, it lets me oc a little too.

funny how our systems just keep looking the same more and more everyday that goes by, hmm, now off to wonderland.

You have a 5900NU ?? then... you should safely be able to run 450/875 pretty easy. I went a bit over that before I flashed my card to 5950U.
