I get a signal, but no internet?

My roomates PC has been pissing me off lately. He uses a Linksys Instant Wireless hub thing, it's USB btw, and it was working just fine for a couple months no problem. But then theother day he buys a USB hub, and for some dumb reason he choose to USE his USB hub, so instead of keeping the USB Wireless Card thing in the FREE port behind his PC, he connects it to his new USB hub... ever since his and the whole damned Wireless area has been FUBAR. My friends cannot connect when they come over.

So after a couple days of tinkering with it, upgrading the Firmware, changing all kinds of settings. I finally get his PC to recieve a signal. But it has no internet? I have the internet, why doesn't he?

BTW I use a Cable to my PC, I don't like Wireless becuase I game on the Internet, and of course these little mishaps.

The Router is a NETGEAR MR814v2 firmware: 5.01
The USB Wireless thing my roomate uses is a Linksys WUSB11

Like I said, no problem before, and I have put the Linksys USB back in it's original area, reinstalled the software and drivers and stuff too.

The Router is setup for my CABLE, using mostly default type settings like get my IP automatically, DNS, and defualt MAC. The WAP is enabled, and SSID is NOT Broadcasted, 128bit Encrypted, with "Authentication Type: AUTOMATIC". I have 2 Security WEP Keys, I tried only having 1, but no change. CHANNEL 11. DHCP SERVER.

Anybody?

RWB, I suspect you'll make a great photoshop artist. I can tell this because your linear thinking is non-existant. I read the post a couple of times then gave up trying to understand it.

I can understand most of it, tho I'm not sure the problem. Try changing channels on both ends to 6 see what happens ie: in both the router's and the receiving NIC's software, also double check the pw on both. Then check and make sure the primary NIC is the one defaulted for use on the receiving unit. Then release and renew all IP's.

Bah. USB hubs are a scam :\

Try uninstalling the drivers for the WUSB device. Drop his IP by doing ipconfig /release from Run on his machine and then ipconfig /renew from Run.

Linksys has given me this problem before. Don't know how I fixed it because it miraculously fixes itself. Check your cables. Make sure they're fully connected.

Check his proxy settings and make sure he wasn't trying to be l33t h4x0r or something.

If all else fails, drop IPs from all machines and reset the router to factory defaults (usually a small button you push with a small object, like a needle). Turn the router on and let DHCP do its thing and see if anything changes.

It was 3AM or 4 AM when I typed that ;) lol, photoshop artist.

But then again, I often try too hard to explain the information and it never comes out right.
