Fan squeaks?

I am starting to get some consistant pitter/rattle squeaks that sound like they are probably a fan, but am unsure. The squeaks sort of have a in/out pattern and vibrate, sort of like a harddrive, but higher and squeakier. The computer only has a couple month old Thermaltake Silencer AMD cpu cooler (1.3ghz), 1/2 year old seagate harddrive, 1 year old WD harddrive, and a 3 now? 4 now? cheap Compcrap psu. I think it is probably the psu out of all of these. Who agrees? Also, could this be a sign of danger lurking ahead, and how far ahead?

The computer has been running 24/7 (for the most part) for a little over a month now. The psu is rated at a crappy 250 watts, but only is good for 146 watts, man am I lucky breaking through with enough power! The computer is as stuffed full as I can get it, minus a video card that diserves any rating whatsoever, which I hope to change (with my psu) this summer.

well test the fan by stoping it for a brief second ( not the psu fans) if it stops the noise thats the fan if you test all the fans in the case and it still makes oise its the PSU then Id recommend a Aspire fully sleeved one from www.performance-pcs.com just cause its a decent psu and it looks awesome!

you think aspires are good? I guess I never knew or cared about them.

    vagga,

That's probably the capacitors in the psu that's giving that noice. I have a psu that does the same. Do not use it anymore for the safety of the rest of the rig. What's your budget for a new psu?

The best and the cheapest is the Fortron Source 530 from Newegg. Insane psu for the price. Dead quiet as well.

Try dusting everything and make sure all your screws are tight, expecially those that hold fans and drives. Could be anything though...

Actually, I can get Antec or Enermax for less than 100 bucks and still get the best. So for me, Asspire are out of the question. Anyway, how would people rank psus on quietness? I am looking like 1 being quietist, bigger than one being noiser and ranked on different brands/types.

The Antec OR the Enermax is toys compared to the Fortron 530. I have tried them all, the Antec died a few weeks ago while the Enermax just sucked. Couldn't provide steady voltages. To tell how quiet it is, lets just say the harddrives have a stronger noise and i have to put my ear 4 inches from the fan at the back of the psu to hear it.
The best of all, this psu is cheaper than the Antecs or the Enermaxes as well.

I' have to agree with Mackanz. I have an Antec and it is a good psu, but the voltage rails on it are always a little low. I probably will be pickin up a Fortron in a little while, cuz I gota push my new BFG 5900XT(and all the stupid lights and stuff).

ohhh...if you only knew how many times i had to eat my own hat! But this one i'm very sure of though. The Fortron 530 eats the Antecs and the Enermaxes for breakfast. Another good point is that it has 5 (!) variable resistors as well but the only voltage i changed was the 3.3 line, but i really didn't need it. It's at 3.7 now.
