Which processor do you think is better?

Athlon 64 2800+

    u will get more memory band off the Opteron.
    i would get the 144 and ur set.

    opteron is solid and stuff but I dunno you gotta get registered ram and all.

    Yeah... I was gonna go and get an Opteron until I priced everything out for a whole computer... The ram was through the roof, lol. Plus boards are pretty $$ for those.

    I think I'll get an A64 when the time comes for me.

    You need an Opteron x46 or above to get DDR400 support

    I would suggest an Opteron 246 on a Tyan K8W motherboard.

    im sorry saytinex, the opteron 144 i had supported DDR400...
    i had it on my SK8N and it was doing 5.5Gb/sec

    i mean, I may be building a nother desktop soon. These 2 are theh exact same price, and i have never had any experience with opterons, or any 64-bits for that matter. I game alot, but mostly fileshare and fold. so... which would you suggest?
