a small problem

edited May 2004 in Hardware
I had windows 2000 on the box im using right now. Something happened and it would no longer boot, so i had to install a new OS. I didnt have a 2k disk so i had to put xp pro. Here is where the problem started. I had the drive partitioned into 3 parts. c:, D:, E:. The C: was formatted to install Xp. I need to transfer files from the E: to the D which is formatted with win xp. When I try to access the E it says that the drive is not formatted. Is there any way to get my files off of my E:. Some of them I really need.

right click on MYCOMPUTER and select manage.

go into disk management, can you take a screenshot or describe what you see therE?

i have a screenshot of it but cant post it since i have no idea how. It says that there is no file system on the E drive. But i can see it using a program made to transfer ntfs files to fat32

winxp has a filesystem conversion utility, try forcefully converting it to ntfs

Before you forcefully change filesystem, do a ghost image of that partition to be safe and burn it on a disc.

i dont ahve any programs to ghost the partition. and it seems to me that if i force the file system to chage it will delete whats on it
