I know I asked this a while ago, but I need to beable to access a windows 2000 machine from XP machines. It askes for a user name and password. I want this completely disabled so that I can click on the computers name and wholla, I'm in.

Also, just to let you know this is the dual PIII system I started a thread about not working. I finally got it working with Win2K and on a fat partion limited to 32 gb (from 80), and a bunch of other stuff, which I think I should write down.

My system is working, I am happy, I can access the windows xp stuff which is good, but can't get to 2k. Hopefully I can get rid of this easily. Step by step procedure is a plus as I do not know what to do at all and don't want any guessing work and possible problems/miscommunications.

Thanks.

you should be able to just get away with turning sharing on the drives and then map them. It may ask for a password once but you should be able to save the mapping and password information so you don't have to do it everytime.

yeah, I think that worked, password just once. Wow, this is a lot easier than getting 2 windows 2k machines to talk peacefully. I guess that was my old question in the other thread.

I believe if you setup local accounts on both machines with the same username and pssword you should get right in with a prompt for a password.
