Okay, I am just curious as to any and all halfwayz descent programs that are good anti spyware, adware, trojan, etc. Any and all programs that was/were worth your time to look at will be worth my time. I am wondering because I want the absolute cleanest system possible since I reinstalled windows. I have many procautions already in place, namely antivirus, software firewall, windows xp firewall, hardware firewall, as well as Adaware, Spybot Search & Destroy, and Hijack This. I am also testing Trojan Hunter, Spyware Blaster, and Browser Hijack Blaster. If you guys have any information on the programs I am testing that would be great, namely if you know if they are good or bad since I already know kind of what they do.

Any other suggested programs would be great!

the best defense, imo, is a good decent spyware killer program (adaware, spybot, hijack this) and any browser that isnt internet explorer. i personally use adaware and opera. i find that combination keeps me fairly clean. i realize, yes, of course, there are still vulnerabilities, but the majority of malicious programs out there are written for ie, so my personal suggestion is to try out opera or firefox, see how you like them, and then stick with them. and adaware is also great too. hope that helps . . .

Yeah I've got firefox/mozilla "something" and tried it, but being so accustomed to IE and being to lazy to move favorites and uninstall IE (which I think I can) I just haven't made the switch. But I also didn't know IE could be a problem browser for Spyware stuff too, so maybe I will start off with just the mozilla. By the way, I sometimes use netscape too, but have to fix a couple software programs from installing with it and have to get rid of Broadband aol trial crap, plus it takes too long from the initial load of the browser, so I tend not to use it.

i cant vouch for netscape, its been prolly 7 or 8 years since i used it, but i even then, it was turning into bloatware. i am not crazy about mozilla, but i love opera, and firefox is also good too. let me tell you what happens at my work. someone comes to me, and says they have spyware, they download and install adaware, things are running well again. i tell them to install opera, they try it out and say they like it. within a month, they are back, totally infested with spyware, and its not pretty, and what do you know, its cuz they went back to ie. actually, i think firefox (and opera too, but its more of a manual process) can import all of your settings from ie. that means bookmarks, passwords, etc. so try that out.

OT:// as an aside, does anyone know if there is a windows version of the linux Konqueror browser? just curious . . .
