Win XP networking NOT working... WHY!!!

I know that this has been posted here before, but I have this ONE machine that refuses to appear on my network, even after I configure it the same as ALL the other machines in my house....

HELP!!!

How do I get it to work!!

    fdisk, format, re-install....

    or check and see if the nic card works

    try this,

    start/run
    cmd.exe
    ping the ip address of the pc ur trying to connect to
    if it replies, type NET VIEW

    do u see it in the list?

    if you have your network set to DHCP, try setting it manually on that one computer. I have one computer that would NOT connect with DHCP no matter what, but it worked fine on manual.

    Is the hostname for that computer unique amongst the other computers? If not, then that's the problem.

    The only other thing I can think of is for you to go into TCP/IP settings, click on the Advanced button, click on the WINS tab, and then select the radio "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP".

    Also try checking the services panel (control panel -> administrative tools -> services) and check if the NetBIOS over TCP/IP service is enabled there.

    On a side note, NetBIOS just plain 'ole sucks.
