RAID 1 (Mirror) lost one HDD - which replacement to buy?
A server with a RAID 1 (mirror) lost one of the HDDs recently (log file of the RAID controller software showed something like "failed at command"). :fu:
Since the old disc(s) are IBM 40GByte HDDs I need to buy one replacement to get the mirror running again.
Should I buy a 40GByte Maxtor or Seagate or Western Digital (please remember: running 24/7)? Or should I go for a bigger drive since I can't tell if the one I buy is bigger or smaller than the IBM (I know I'll loose the extra GBytes from the new disc)?
And is there anything I have to watch out for when I replace the defective disc?
