sound card problems

edited June 2004 in Hardware
I've got an Aureal Vortex 2 8830 Turtle Beach soundcard in my computer that just won't comply. Anybody got some WinXP Pro drivers for this or know where I could get some? My mobo also says VIA on it, and I remember reading some where that VIA boards don't get along with the Vortex 2. I have an onboard soundcard too, that keeps popping up whenever I try and uninstall it or disable it. Perhaps the two are conflicting? Any ideas?

first disable the sound in the bios then the VIA doesnt like hte original sound blaster cards. then screp the vortex 2 and get something else. why not just use the onboard sound? the vortex 2 is gonna cause more problems then Michale Jackson at a Day Care

Try the wpcredit trick, and if you need help with it, let me know as i have used it before. But as Gnome said, disable the onboard sound first of all.

EDIT//** The link gives a spyware/popup thing, be aware (

Mackanz, That link takes you to a page where it tries to load spyware program! Popup window. Don't know why, but it popped up the Advertisement for the Bravenet Media center and said--say yes to install bravenet media center. Edit- Sorry, It was an ad from bravenet advertisements to scan pc for virus. Went to it a second time and it was ok. Wheww, Scared me there.
