Gonna get a new mouse. I NEED a new mouse. I am incredibly used to a wheel mouse for surfing, but I also insist on having a middle button for gaming (running forward)! I have tried to use the wheel mouse button for gaming but couldn't get used to it. :(

Basicaly, what do you use? Any recomendations?

i second this mouse. the logitech mx700 is seriously the best mouse ever made. its comfy, doesnt require batteries. its all around fantastic. but, if you dont get an mx700, at least get an mx510 (i have heard good things about this mouse as well, supposedly geared towards gamers or something :D ). but yeah, mx700 is teh way to go . . .

MX700's what I have used since they came out. Never had a problem with it, and the gaming response is the best you can get. You can use the wheel for scrolling through your weapons or click on it for having the third button dealy. It scrolls and clicks. Price: $44.99 Less Rebate: - $10.00
    Final Price: $34.99*

I have shopped at this store, and got good service also.

I have the wireless mx 700 and it does require batteries, but so what, it comes with a charger. That link up there makes it pretty expensive, I got the wirelss keyboard and mouse together for only about $69 from either Googlegear, newegg, or some other slightly less reputable company I found off of pricegrabber.

They however, do have an mx 900 out now, but its not really better, I'd say get the 700 over the 500 though, it just "feels" better.

the mx700 is the wireless laser mouse with base for recharging. the mx500 is the same mouse as the 700, but cabled. the 900 is the same as the 700 but its bluetooth and a buttload moar expensive. the mx510 is the newest one (i think) and it is like the 500 but with skins and optimized for gaming or something. i havent really looked into the 510 that much. overall, these are all fairly high quality mice . . .

Cool, I believe that I will go with the 510, it sound Sweet!

Im' not real big on wireless mice, because I have three kids(4,2, and 1). If it moves and isn't tied down, its considerd a toy. :loco:

good choice, while i dont have any experience with the 510's, i keep hearing great things about them. i honestly dont think you could have gone wrong with any of these logitech choices . . .

None of the above mentyioned mouses are gaming mouses. There is one mouse that stands out from any mouse, but it still have a cord (wireless mouses sucks in gaming):

There's simply nothing better that that if you are a gamer.

    Well... lets see,

All Five mice have MX™ Optical Engine
The 300 series is sweet, fast, and simple.
The 310 series has a few more bells & whistles then the 300.
The 500 series has a different feel, and has a few more bells & whistles then the 300.
The 510 series is exactly the same as the 500 except it is "faster" and pretty.
The 700 is the same as the 500 except it is cordless.

    hmmmm....

I will need to find a 300/310 series and a 510 series that I can put my hands on to compare the feel, but I think I'm liking the 510.

The 510 also has this... "Gaming-tuned software drivers
Logitech MouseWare® software puts you in control of all eight buttons. A game detection setting enables button programming in games. "

I say go with the MX700. It is an awesome wireless mouse. I've never had any problems with it, and it works great in games. It's just like the MX500, bu without a cord. It has a rechargeable battery and a stand. Average use will get you anywhere from 2-5 days out of a single charge.

Zuntar and everyone. I had a few beers before and recommended the wrong mouse. It's the 510 that rules. Geez, i have worked too many hours this week. =/

Hey, why did you have to post that pic? Now my silver and black mx700 is looking ugly! Anyway, I think Zuntar has an idea of what he wants with his mouse. All I have to say now, to everyone, is that NEVER EVER BUY CHEAP MICE! THEY BREAK AND WORK HORRIBLY AFTER A LITTLE WHILE! Of course they are usually wheel mice too. The cheapest comfortable mouse I'd get is the Microsoft optical wired one for about 15-20 bucks, its simple, but comfortable and won't break. But then again, I'd only get that one if I wanted a wired mouse.

hey Turamber, that looks like one of those crappy apple 1 button mice that make me get arthritis and is very difficult to click when I lift the mouse up

I hate apple mice! oh and the wires on the apples are shitty, they always find there way in the way.

    Gaming Use
    <A HREF="http://www.hwextreme.com/reviews/mouse/logitech_mx700/page4.shtml"target=_blank>hwextreme.com</a> MX700 review.

Quote:
For gaming, the MX700 cordless mouse is as good as it comes by. I've used quite a number of corded and cordless mouse, but none came close to as responsive and accurate as this. Playing games like Unreal 2, Unreal Tournament 2, Max Payne 2, Warcraft 3 and others are all okay no matter how frantic the pace could be. There were no skips, no stutters, no lags, no missed head-shots.
</blockquote
I've used almost every logitech mouse out there, plus a bunch of other brand names and none compare to the MX700. And I've been a gamer for at least 7-8 yrs. On the top of the link page you can use (The Table Of Contents) tab to go back to the begining of the review.

Well, i got the MX 510, and it is sWEEEt!1! It is incredably smooth and almost effortless. I haven't tried out the software side of it cuz every button works w/out it, except for one which i probably won't ever use anyway. ;)

Glad you enjoy it. Logitech mice always pwn. :D

    /me begins to rant

On a side note, if you were upgrading from an MX500 to a MX510, I'd have to get buku-diggy-dag on your ass. One of my peeves, especially on [H] *cough*, is when people say, like "ZOMG I UPGRAED FROM MX500 2 MX510 AND MY HAEDSHOT IS IMPROEVING!!11" ... sheesh... 98% of it is just psychological IMO.

    /me ends rant
