Print Spooling Service Stops Running

edited July 2004 in Science & Tech
I need help figuring out how to tackle this problem. At any given moment during the day, the print spooling service on the windows 2000 server stops running, which requires me to restart it otherwise no network printers will print. What may be a reason why the spooling service stops on its own and how can I fix that??

Go to the services and stop the service manually. Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all entrys, reinstall the printer again.

That's the best shot i can give for now, but i'm still looking :)

Are there printers sitting around inactive our out of paper for a long time? That can also stop the service from running the printer times out due to extended inactivity and that can shut down the print server.

There were some inactive computers running, but I deleted them. So far, so gpod since I last posted. Also, I moved the spooling folder to a different hard drive so it can eat up all the space it wants. It was sitting on the C:/ where there is only a little more than a gig of free space. Hopefully that helps also.

    Thanks guys!
