edited November 2003 in Hardware
In an odd turn of events Gigabyte has swapped sides to manufacture Nvidia based cards...I just have to ask why on earth do that?

maybe they got a bigger cut from nvidia thenn they would from ATi...i mean didnt nVidia say that they wont be making too many graphics cards from here on in and mobos are their primary target

Actually Nvidia doesn't make a single video card...they have a partner or two that make them for Nvidia based on Nvidia's specs.
I read somewhere the name of the company that makes Nvidia's reference cards but I must've took a blow to the head that killed that particular brain cell.

Probably the same reason Asus decided to carry both an ATI and NVidia graphics lineup of chips: more income. :)

Ummmm...I don't see ASUS doing much by way of new Nvidia products.
I kind of have a feeling that after the stock they have is gone they are jumping ship entirely.

Asus is committed to releasing and supporting both ATI & NVidia products for the time being.

IMHO, I think they are going to ride the market through the Christmas buying season, see which way the market sways in April with R420/NV40 and possibly jump ship after that.

ATI and Asus are working closely together... look at how they launched the 9800 XT together on The Rock. :)

Maybe we may end up seeing Asus ship high-end ATI products and value NVidia products?

Yeah, I understand that but I'm saying that while I've seen them announce the 9xxx XT's and se's, I've yet to see either of the new Nvidia chip rev.s be announced which is what leads me to believe they are just in with Nvidia until whatever contractual obligations have been met.
