I thought Windows XP Professional Edition had "Power Users"

I recall watching The Screen Savers last year that talked about Home Edition only having Administrator and Limited options, but the Pro version having Power Users (a middle setting) as an option. Is there a way to set up a Power User in Pro?

Yes go into user accounts, create a user then in the group membership tab there are three options Restricted, Standard, and other. In the other tab just turn it to Power User. Keep in mind though that these user accounts are only local to that machine and not the same as a user account in a server environment.

If this is in a server environment then the server dictates the type of user in which there is only standard and administrator. You would then have to use the group policies to adjust either a standard user up or bump an administrative account down until you get effectively a 'Power User'.

I can't actually find the group membership area, but I did go to where it says change the type of user, but it's only limited and administrator.

OEM isn't stripped down at all is it?

shouldn't be. Can you put it to administrator or is that greyed out? You probably have to actually be signed in as administrator to get to that area, again if this is a networked user you won't be able to change it either.

I am signed in as administrator, I only use one account, but am just wondering why I never saw the power user option when experimenting. I set one account to limited, and one to administrator. From both those accounts I can't make it a power user, this is while signed in as the main administrator.

Maybe I wasn't going to the right spot? I go to Control Panel > Users and then it should be in there? Or is the power setting somewhere else in the control panel?

This computer is on a network with one other computer as always, but that is through the router only.

Hmm maybe you have to actually be on a server environment to do it as I can't do it at home, but I can at work.

I just don't understand the way M$ does, like everybody else in this world.
