Hard Drive gone caput?
Okay I have a laptop and I had my Windows XP installed on it. One day I rebooted it and it said "Hard Disk Failed" so I thought oh great my hard drive went out. I can boot it back up with my XP disc (upgrade) and I can get as far as reinstalling it but it keeps asking me for a previous version and I just don't have a disc that has a previous Windows version on it. I can get into a C: prompt and all the commands I type are invalid. When the CD loads it says it's loading Windows files, if my hard drive is out where is it loading files to?
Is there any way around not having a previous Windows CD-Rom? All I have is a Restore disk from my computer when it had ME but it won't work, it says it's a non-system disc.
Thanks in advance.
