Windows XP: Delay from logon to all system tray icons loading

Hi.
My friend's system takes about 1 minute from login on to all of the other system tray icons loading up. During this minute of seemingly like "pause", there is only the Speaker icon in the system tray. Does anyone one know what could be causing this delay and how to eliminate? I thought it may have been McAfee virusscan v7.03, but then thought it might not be as on my systems with same AV software this delay is not present.

thanks in advance.

Sounds like a software-related issue... so, it could very well be spyware or a virus. Perform a virus scan and for spyware, visit www.lavasoft.de and download LavaSoft's free Ad-Aware (once it's installed, make sure you click the Check for Updates button). You may also want to download Spybot Search & Destroy and perform another scan with that.

Additionally, check the Event Viewer (control panel -> admin tewls) and look for any error of some sort that happened at the exact moment your computer pauses on start up.

    Yo Versello.
Have done a scan using AdAware 1.81, with current DAT files, just came up with 27 cookies that had built up in cache. Not done a full AV scan yet. No errors listed in the event viewer. But good news is that the problem seems to have gone away after I uninstalled some unecessary stuff that came preloaded with machine like CompuServ 2000, and some ISP software. Machine now loads normally with system tray icons loading up one after the other. :)
