9700+dx9.0c = nada :(

Hey yall
i have a radeon 9700 pro on XPhome with an nforce 2 mobo,
i got direct x 9.0c, the newest cat drivers,
and NOTHING works.
Ravenshield says "must have dx8.1 or better, derp"
and doom 3 says "i don't know what's going on, i can't load opengl, idiot."
so if anyone has any good ideas, PLEASE LET ME KNOW

    try re-installing the radeon drivers.

    try getting an nVidia 6800 gt

    Does Doom III really say that? haha...

    ahem... try going to the display properties, click on settings, click on advanced, click on the troubleshoot tab and see if acceleration is set to full.
