Softmodding a 6800

I'm starting to look for a new video card, and after checking around, I'm looking at the 6800 and 6800 GT, so what I'm wondering is if you can softmod a 6800 into a 6800GT, or does that leaves artifacts?

    yes u can softmod it to a GT when the new riva tuner comes out. It will allow ur pipelines to be increased from 12 to 16 IF they arent defective
