9800 Pro and XP2600+ guidance
Please bear with me coz im new to this and I apologise in advance if Im posting something in the wrong place/aksing something thats been asked a million times before/or jsut asking stupid questions but I bow to your wisdom so...
last year I bought a K7N2 Deluxe ILSR and a AMD Athlon XP2600+ Thoroughbred. However due to budget restrictions it was only running a Geforce 2 Pro and 256mb PC2300 Ram.
Finally got cash together to upgrade and I think the Radeon 9800 Pro is the best solution for my pocket although the bloke at the shop said there were two versions of this - a 128bit and a 256bit card... he also said that card id seen at £125 was proabably the 128bit version whilst the one he was selling was the better 256bit (Saphire at £160). Is this true?
Also is there anything I'll be able to do with this card to give it more omph if I do opt for it?
My main question though is that I started tinkering with my processor which was running at 2079mhz at 12.5x and 166 FSB. Changing the FSB to 170 got me up to 2125.5mhz. I saw that the stock speed of the 2600+ is 2.133mhz. Should I keep pushing my FSB up until it becomes unstable? Is this worth it? Is it a good idea? What kinda of temperatures should I be looking to remain within?
Thanks in advance for any help.
