DFI Lan Party - Win XP wont install on boot sata raid array

Hi there as the title says Windows XP wont install on the sata raid 0 array. I can load the raid drivers, the array is then detected by windows in the text based install & all is fine until it reboots & trys to go into the graphical installation where it tells you how long is to go & what its doing. At that point it just sits there for a few moments & then chucks up an error saying about cant complete install, cant load library or something.

I'm currently useing the latest official bios but i was previously using the 1/31 bios. I've had this board running a raid array for months now with no problems but it wasn't booting of the array previously.

Can anybody offer any help. Bios boot settings are

Sata Or SCSI - Sata
1st Boot - CDrom
2nd Boot - SCSI
3rd Boot - Disabled
Boot Other - Disabled

Thanx

Jim

You might have installed the sata drivers, not the sata raid ones. There are 2 different drivers for boot from the sata ports. Also, change the bootsettings from scsi to hdd if the raid is the only harddrives you have installed. My DFI isn't up so i can't look at the bios myself, but i think you should use hdd 0.

    Hi Mack,

Thanks for the reply, yeah I was gonna give you a shout at the time about this but I've now got it sorted. The problem was that I was trying to move my bootable raid array from my NF7S to my DFI. It didn't seem to like it, I'm guessing cos of different Sil raid chipsets. Eitherway I had to delete to C partition & install a fresh copy of winblows to get it working. :(
