Huuuuuge Problem

edited August 2004 in Hardware
k im having a huge problem with my comp. When i load windows everything is fine till i get to the login, then it seems to lag when i move the mouse, it doesnt freeze cause if i continue to move the mouse it will move a inch or so every once in a while. I've checked almost everything hardwarewise, i tried each stick of memory, unplugged the dvd and cd drives, it acts the same on both hard drives(one on win98 and one on XP), its not the cpu, nothing to do with the network, video card is fine. I ve checked everything i could the only thing left would be the power supply and that could darn well be the problem since its only 350 watt. Oh and btw i hear a kind of whistle or sqeak when its starting up it may be related. Please help me lol

Could be the PSU. Have you installed anything recently just before this started happening? Also if you have an highspeed modem or are hooked up to a network in some way unplug the cable from your computer before you power up. I've seen this happen before when a machine suddenly developed a huge issue resolving an IP.

I took out the wireless card as well and booted up, same issue.

When was the last time you reinstalled? If its been over a year, you should probably try a good clean install.
