Help.... which Video Card to buy?

edited September 2004 in Hardware
Can anyone help me decide on which video card to purchase?

I'm looking at the ATI9800 PRO but am looking at various.

What is the difference between the ATI 9800 Pro and the NVidia6800LE and which is better.

I am looking at a card that will support Games, Windows and Video Editting.

Going up the scale is the X800 better than the 6800GT?

:jelly:

Well... from everything I've seen the 6800 128Mb is better than all of the previous high-end cards but I dunno about the "LE" model. The 6800 is only like $299 isn't it? How much is the LE? The 9800PRO cards run around $200 still and should satisfy you w/ all games up until just recently but anything newer might start to struggle if you like playing at a decent resolution...

The 6800GT on the other hand seems to be the card to get right now... I'm sure the X800 (PRO at least) is a great contender but I think the GT is better. Maybe HG will reply to this post as he has like 10 X800PRO's =P lol. I'm sure he'll give you his bit on which to consider!

If you are going to spent money on a good video card i would suggest an 6800 ultra or x800 pro. Both cards seem to be at the same level. But buy these cards only if you have a good computer as this cards need a cpu more than 3ghz and a memory of 1gb to show their full potentials. If you are not willing to spend so much money go and buy a 9800xt or a 5900 ultra. This cards can hit 45000 on aquamark3. i have an msi ti4200 that hits only 16000 and i can still play games in 1024x768 at 32bit at medium to high quality settings. So with a 9800xt or 5900 ultra you will be able to play the games with antistropic filtering and antialising easily. But don`t think about what can satisfy you now, get something for future games, So don`t hesitate to spent money on a good graphics card. I hope i helped
