Sata help

I have a maxtor ata 150 sata drive. When i try to put windows on it xp isnt able to detect the drive so it kant install. is there something u have to do differently then when installing it on a ide drive?

    did you give windows install the driver disk that came with it? because thats how windows can find the drive to install it from the installation screen.

    Done thanks for teh input! i now have a fully functional athlon 64 system
