about memory timings

edited September 2004 in Hardware
How much of a difference in game peformance would i see if I tried to save about 40 bucks and got some Corsair XMS with timings 2-3-3-6 T1 instead of the Low latency Corsair memory with 2-2-2-5 timing. if there's a big difference then i'll bite the bullet and get the more exspensive kind. But couldn't I just change the timings to 2-2-2-5 without much trouble?

don't know much about overclocking

IMO you won't see much difference w/ those timings in games. Unless your benchmarking and want that "edge" its not worth it.

You may be able to run the cheaper mem at those timings, but you will probably have issues. You'll have to run more volts to the dimms (VDIMM). ;)
