New Comptuer System

edited September 2004 in Hardware
I am wanting to make the ultimate computer system, my budget, $4,000 and here are the main parts I have outlined:

Intel D925XBCLK LGA775 925X uATX DDR2 PCIe Audio GigabitLAN SATA-RAID Firewire - Box
Intel Pentium 4 Processor 560 with HT Technology 3.6GHz 1MB 800FSB LGA775 - Box
1GB Kit 533MHz DDR2 PC2-4200 ECC DIMM CL4 Kingston Value RAM ( 512MB x 2 )
Asus ATI Radeon X800 XT 256MB DDR3 TVOUT 2xDVI PCIe (FREE Webcam) - Retail

Anything you think I should chnage or replace for better performance?

Its a massive budget, and fairly unimpressive specs for that kind of cash. If you insist on a P4 you should at least think about one of the 2mb L3 cache EEs.
You would get major bragging rights with one of those.

If you can wait, go for a dual Athlon 64 4000 with at least 2 gig of ram and PCI-E mobo. For that price you may even be able to look at 2 video cards too...

Well, here is the thing, your guys ideas, what type of system would give me the BEST PERFORMANCE. Should i go with the Athlon 64 4000+ or Intel Pentium 4 3.4GHZ 2MB L3 EE? I want the BEST PERFORMANCE guys, please i am open for opinions. What motherboards give me the option to do dual pci express video cards like Alienware is doing?

Just list specs you would think of as the fastest computer system, really

A64 without a doubt in my mind

The system you dream of doesn't exist yet. Dual pci-e isn't around until about a year. Before that time, get an FX 53 A64, 2X1GB OCZ EB ram, Radeon x800XT as a base. Couple that with 2X Nec 21 inch flatpanels. When will you be buying this?

Would i not get better performance with a PCI Express computer system though? Like going with a new Intel Pentium 4 Socket 775 system and using a PCI Express X800 video card with DDR 2 533 memory?

No. Athlon 64 FX53 beats it to death. And the PCI-E X800 XT won't be out for some time either, not that i am aware of anyway.

Hackingguru, go for OCZ 2X1GB EB rams instead. A mobo runs 2X1GB a hell of a lot better than 4X512. Apart from that, you ned a nice Lian-Li case, and a Fortron Source 530W psu. Add a 21 inch NEC LCD screen to that.
