P4 3.0 in hiding :)

My northwood 2.6 is apparently a 3.0 in hiding. I overclocked it via the FSB to 3GHz without touching the voltage and it is running perfectly stable. (Prime95 ran for an extended period of time no errors). My normal temps are idle 28C / Load 44C.

Sick man, nice stuff.... my Athlon is running at a slight 2,320mhz right now..orignally a 2.0Ghz....my temps are almost identical to yours.... cept my idle is 33 at 2.0 and 34-35 2.3, and 37-39 2.45 Need to get a better water cooling system for myself before i try to do anything Uber.

water cooling? Mein rig is air cooled. ^_^

yeah but amd runs hotter..at least they have for me. and i'm not totally OC'ing it, just a little bit, the max i could oc mine with my air was 2,330 but it ran really..hot...
PS i live in Nevada, we have thin air, doesn't help much on the cooling side :)

heh. I live in Canada, in my grandma's basement (university), and there is a problem with the heating down here (it doesnt work that well). So air cooling tends to produce fairly good results. But then, water cooling is also based on ambient air temp, so if I was water cooled I'd be showing similarly low numbers.

Lordbean, did you try OC'ing it higher? No try, no go.

I did, yes. I can run stable @ 3.25GHz using 1.7V thru the CPU, and it almost managed 3.45GHz, but I think the FSB was getting too high for the mobo at that point. Prime95 worked fine but as soon as I used video I got a lockup.

I can run default volts on my 2.6C all the way up to 3.45Ghz ... after that I have to up the volts and it's not fully stable when I try 3.6Ghz :( I need a new PSU and better cooling ... probably water aswell.

yeah..i think my fsb is getting too much for my board...it's almost at 2000mhz when it's oc'd at 2.45.

Mhmm, get better cooling for chipset, increase voltage.
    Just get watercooling ;)

actually i put a new 420w PSU and tweaked the voltage to 1.65 and now my cpu sits at 2.38 with no problems idles at 35 and loads at 48. but my memory is still limiting me.
I can probably hit 2.4 or a little more...my temps will still be fine, but my memory might have a seizure. :D

Nice :) I hope to live up to your overclock with my future 64 bit rig..
I just received the DFI Lan Party UT nF3 250Gb this monday, and today ordered an AMD Athlon 64 2800+ NewCastle. I wonder how my overclocking adventure will go with that. My memory is TwinMos 512DDRAM PC3200 CL2,5 though. Hopefully It'll clock up to 220MHz (440MHz) with a little increase to the voltage :D

actually now i redid some stuff, my a64 is sitting at 2.44Ghz with 1.55Vcore 33c Idle and 48c Load 324Mhz mem. 1,952mhz Bus speed.
