Sound card sorrow

All righty people. heres the story, a few months back i baught a sound blaster Live! 5.1 . I installed it, It was a bitch to get it to work, but when i got it to work it worked fine. so 3 days ago i buy a plantronics stereo pc headset and when i plug it into my sound card there is this Ticking noise and my comp shuts off. im not sure what happened but when i turned my comp back on i had no sound. so i tried to reinstall it . the instalation whent fine , i got to the point where i had to restart my pc my and when i did it wouldnt start back up so i ended up bootin it back up and there still was nothing. So what do you think i did? and how do i fix it? i sure hope i didnt blow my soundcard :bowdown: please help

    did you install the drivers from the CD of from the website?

    make sure to download the most up-to-date drivers for that card..

    Yeah i tried installing the driver from the website and by cd and that didnt do nutin

    there is an error when i try to install the driver from the website. it says id cant find the card in my comp :confused:

    do the headphones work in anything else? If they have a short, they might have blown the sound card...

    If i put them in another one of my comps will it short one of them too?

    by "anything else", I was meaning any old $10 radio or whatever you have lying around. Most come with a headphone jack.
