Num Lock light stays on after shutdown.

I've a friend whos has a new system which I built for him. The only glitch is that the Number Lock light on the keyboard stays on after the system is shutdown.

It does it with a replacement keyboard as well.

Could it be some sort of short in the mobo socket? Is it dodgy, ie will it fizz and pop sometime? Can he ignore it?

Obviously it goes out if the mains socket is switched off.

Any ideas?

Phil

It's not a short. A lot of modern ATX motherboards leave the PS/2 and sometimes even the USB ports powered up even when the system is off. Because of that, numlock stays on.

There's no problem, just ignore it.

    Ah, cheers lordbean.

Slightly strange idea though. Turn computer off, computer should be off. Still ours is not to reason why...

    Thanks again,

Thats the old days. Now most computers when they are off are still on stand-by power so things like wake-on-lan or wake-on-event can function.
