Yes you can partition multiple partitions on one drive, if you are referring to a drive already partitioned with the os on it it is quite risky and you will need a third party partitioning software like PowerQuest Partionmagic.
I accidently installed Windows XP Professional twice on the same drive (C:\) which is a partition of my 200gb hard-drive. I also have D:\ and E:\ which are games/music, of the same drive. I don't know anyway to completely wipe my C:\ drive without wiping out my games and music. The two operating systems thing is giving me a buncha problems.
you can reformat or delete/remake your C: partition without touching anything on D: and E:. They will still be there when you reinstall your OS.
I always use a setup where C: is a 5GB partition with windows on it, and D: is the rest of the drive for data. That way, if the OS screws up, I just reformat C:, reinstall the OS, and carry on as if nothing happened.
It is in the installation of windows, but I can see you figured that out already. But anyway, you will still have to reinstall your programs from the other partitions, but all the data will still remain there, so it may install games and programs quicker (I doubt it).
reinstall? Not in most cases. Developers are increasingly writing things to operate without depending on their registry keys being present. I can play most of my games without actually having "installed" them.

While that is often true it realy does depend on the software. Apps in particular are generally horriffic for putting stuff into the registry. Especially any app that generates into a 'right click' menu option or becomes active with certain types of files.
Games do it less often but that doesn't mean they don't need to be re-installed. Especially the recent strain of games that have safedisk security protection on them.
Keep in mind if the software works without re-install you still have to go through and add them into your menu manually unless you also back up your user files.
what if i installed windows to overcome a corrupt xp install, then installed it again, and now whe i start up, in the black screen it has 3 choices,
"XP INSTALLATION"
"XP INSTALLATION"
"XP INSTALLATION"
and i want to remove the 2 bad ones from the list and just keep the good one, so that when i turn my friends comp on, it loads it up right away.
NOTE: this is not a repost. In my other post, i asked how to repair the bad XP INSTALL. In this post, I am asking how to remove these 2 items from the list, so as to load XP Pro normally.

cellstar- go to your system properties, advanced, startup and recovery settings. uncheck the box that says "time to display list of operating systems " that should do the trick
Installing XP twice on the same drive is just an overinstall and shouldn't mess anything up.
What reason did you have for "accidently" doing this ?
But i suggest you get your music and stuff on a different HD pronto.
Mine are well backed up there and on cd's.

What are your specific circumstances?

EDIT: Figured it out, thanks for the help guys .
