A7V600-X SATA RAID and Maxtor issue
Hi everybody !
I've read quite a lot about problems with VIA SATA/RAID controller and Maxtor (but also other brands) HDDs ...
But still I can't have a clear idea if all of these issues have been fixed (file system corruption, very slow performances etc ...).
I would like to add 2 x Maxtor 200 GB SATA drives to my system, which is based on Asus A7V600-X.
I am currently booting WinXp from an IDE HD and would like to add the 2 SATA drives in Raid 1 mode, just for (video-editing) data storing.
My question:
Is there anybody out there that was successful in running a similar system, without incurring in any problem ?
If yes, would you kindly report:
- bios level
- Rom Sata bios level
- Via Raid Drivers level
- OS level
Thanks a lot for your support Gianni

thank you for your suggestion, but my choice was already taken ...
I know that nForce chipsets are performing better then VIA but I really can't complain about my mobo: stable and reliable.
My only doubt is if Raid/Sata subsystem is working fine with large Maxtor drives ...
I would really appreciate some feedbacks (positive or negative, of course) about this combination.
By the the way, I would be interested in ANY feedback involving the VT8237 Sata/Raid chipset and large disks.
Thank you
