Do you only auth once or everytime you play?

You gotta figure though, steam has been super pushed the last day or so. With all the people trying to activate it, I'm surprised it survived. hehe :)

kinda like the WoW open beta / stress test just now, where they forgot to put in code to limit the number of people on their servers... the database just couldn't handle it, and frequently got overloaded (30sec - 4 minute lag spike on item pickup). They have pretty much corrected the issue since the test started.

Yeh, Steam wasn't an exactly good choice for Half Life 2 since it is a single player game. No single player game should require internet authentication, what for? Someone is gonna crack it anyway.

Yesterday I bought it, was praying that the Valve servers would work and I could play HL2, luckily they did, and I enjoyed HL2. I feel sorry for those who tried to play it when Valve servers were down, if that happened to me I'd probably start destroying things in my house!

I will probably get a crack once one comes out anyway, what if someday I won't have an internet connection and I'll want to play HL2, I don't want to be in a situation like that.

it's funny because Valve's attempt to get people to stop cracking their software simply results in more cracks for their software...
