laptop internet problem

ok new problem, my dad just came home from armenia where he has been working for the past year and a half well.... he was useing a dialup connection at his apartment in armenia and a broadband connection at his workplace. So hes back now and he cannot get on the internet. the connection here is through a hub thats connected to the modem. :help: and i dont mean to sound rood or Any thing but i need some answers fast

    the connection status says things are being sent but nothing recevied

    Have a look at the DNS settings. If its connecting but the connection seems dead then its always the first thing I check.

    Its possible that the TCP/IP settings are still set for this Armenian dialup connection.

    ( if you have the "obtain an ip address automatically" option on) the modem sometimes needs to be reset, power everything down, modem and computer. turn the modem on first then hub/router then the laptop. and that should do it.

    ok new problem i reset the new ip thingy so it connects to the internet but when i go to explorer there is a error that says something like the requested url could not be recieved. contact some cache dude. so whats up now?
