Print Screen FUBARED

edited November 2004 in Hardware
Hey all need some advice. My Print Screen button on my keyboard seems to no longer work. Well it works, but maybe 1 out of 500 tries. I use print screen to grab screen shots all the time of my desktop or apps or whatever, then usually paste them into Photoshop etc.. Problem is, it really doesn't seem to work anymore unless I press it 5,000 times and then I 'might" get lucky.

I was thinking it was my keyboard possibly for awhile, but then while playing WOW, the PrintSCreen key is used to take screenshots, and guess what, it worked perfectly fine.

So obviously it isn't my keyboard, but more-so maybe a windows XP SP 2 bug? Anyone have any ideas I can try here? I really need to get it workign as I have some jobs coming up soon where I NEED to be able to use it.

Also, is there another freeware app out there that takes the place of print screen? If so I might just go that route for now.

IrfanView will do what you want in the meantime.

Not to ask a stupid question but you are hitting shift+prnt screen....

No I'm not hitting shift+print screen, do I need to now? I never did that in the past, always just hit print screen and it worked without problem for years that way..

Hmm Krysst just tried it out, works like a charm. Is this something they changed recently with SP 2? Only reason I ask is because like I said, I've been taking screenshots for years now probably every other month or so up until recently, and I always just hit the print screen button with out shift.

Anyway problem solved, just curious as to why I never had to do that before?

From what I remember it's been like that since at least win2k.
