i hate cool www!!

edited December 2004 in Science & Tech
hi guys
i have been trying to get cool www off for awhile, i've tried spybot search & destroy, and it finds cool www, (comes up as CoolWWWsearch.msconfig)but it can't delete it, it says "Some problems couldn' be fixed; the reason could be that the associated files are still in use (in memory). This could be fixed after a restart. Could Spybot run on your next system startup?" and i say yes, and it runs, but it still can't delete it and says the same thing.
i also have BHODemon, and it finds an unknown BHO, but can't do anything about it. in the browser toolbars, a toolbar called Begin2Search keeps popping up, and it will go away, but if i open IE again, it comes back. i think it is associated with coolwww.
help me please!!

    CW Shredder to the rescue! :rarr:

    The 'CW' stands for "CoolWebsearch".

    http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

    It's small, fast, effective, and hides from things that try to stop it.

    hey guys i did it!! i downloaded CWShredder and it didn't find anything, but i did download SpySubtract, there is a free 30-day trial at http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract/ and it works awesome. it found tons of crap on my computer, but not the begin2search toolbar. i searched for begin2search on the internet and came to this site - http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/b/begin2search.asp

    it said to get rid of begin2search, delete these two from the registry-
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\{52fe5233-367c-4efb-bdd7-0be4d212c107}
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\internet explorer\toolbar\{52fe5233-367c-4efb-bdd7-0be4d212c107}

    and it got rid of it! woo-hoo!
    i recommend spysubtract for anyone, it's free for 30 days

    times new roman Hey man,

    I had the same turmoil you had with the Begin2search toolbar. What I did to eliminate it was I downloaded Adware from http://www.download.com and then I did a full update for the program and ran it and just like that it eliminate the evil creature from my computer. I do indeed hope this helps you. Farewell and have a good day.
