IE - Photo format changed to Bitmap

edited January 2005 in Science & Tech
I am using Internet Explorer as my browser. Recently, when I try to save the photos/pictures, they are in the format of bitmap only (with the filename "untitle"). The file size is very large when compared with jpg format. Before, I also had this experience but just occassionally and only for a few website. Now, every website is the same including my own website that I am sure the photos are in jpg format instead of bitmap. Could somebody please tell me how to solve this problem?

Here's a freeware program that might be what your looking for--
    Image Fiddler

Image Fiddler is a small program that will allow you to view a large image in a small window by either stretching it to fit or by allowing you to scroll around the image using the mouse. You can load a large graphic file which you can view in full as stretched then click on a particular point of interest to view just that area. You can fix the view at any time by using the menu. You can also copy or save a view in addition to copying or saving the full size graphic. This allows you to evaluate reduced size copies for use as thumbnails for example . You can load/save Bitmaps, JPEGs, GIFs, PNGs and Metafiles. Though designed primarily to view large graphics, you can convert, enlarge or reduce, copy either the full image or the view, save either the full image or the view, paste and generally fiddle around with an image. Aside from a single left button click on the image, all options are accessed through a right click popup menu.
    Hope this helps.

When you right click and choose save as to save the picture. Below the picture name there is a Save as Type drop down. Do you have other selection choices in there?
