Graphics Card Install - Folder opens on start up

edited December 2004 in Hardware
Hi all,
I didn't really know where abouts to put this one so i figured it had something to do with installing the Graphics Card software so i would put it here.

I have a issue that everytime I boot my PC the ATI folder opens(folder which was installed with the graphics setup) on my desktop. This has happened since I intalled my the card, and I can't stop it from opening.

I have checked the startup folder its not in there. I have try un-installing and then re-installing it.

Any idea's on this one?

cheers

Coxy

Is it the actual folder like the Windows Explorer folder or is it a sort of help looking folder? I've seen it happen where after installing an ATI drive there is a kind of help looking folder /file that always opens. At the bottom of it there is a checkbox to stop it from opening at startup in much the same was as the Welcome To windows screen shows up and can be dissabled after the first time you install windows.

If it's the actual Windows Explorer Folder my guess is there is a program trying to open that is missing a file. I would suggest doing the re-install thing but since you already have I'm not sure. Maybe a screenshot would help

click start, run, type in msconfig, hit enter. look in the startup tab, it'll probably be there, or might be in other tabs, but just uncheck it and you're fine.

OK, Thanks for that, I found one program that linked with the folder as in the image below. And when I reboot the other attached image is shown. If I go to the specific folder and run the ATI control panal .exe from there, the ATI folder does not open....weird.

that's really weird then. have you tried different versions of the drivers? and to be honest with you, i don't think you really need that to launch anyhow, it's just another icon in your systray.

OK, Well after try a few other things I decided to delete the folder then see what happened. Nothing happened, I think the folder was created when the Catalyst driver was unzipped and for some reason just kept opening.

Now the PC boots obviously without the folder opening, coz it an't there.

    Thanks for your help chaps.
