Render Macro

edited December 2004 in Science & Tech
This is a question for people who know 3d modelling programs primarily, though it is not related.

Would it be possible to create a macro that auto-renders a bunch of files in a program. What would be needed is for the program to select a file, render it, rotate it 45 degrees, render it, and once it has all 8 angles, it is selects another file, and repeats.

I believe this could be down with a cursor marco, however, how could I get it to select the next file. I was thinking I could make a temp directory of all the stuff, and after it is selected is deletes itself (the file) so that the macro is always selecting the first file.

thoughts?

I don't know what program you are using. But if it were me and I was doing it in 3D Studio or Lightwave I'd make a timeline of my beginning position and rotated through to my ending position either with or without transitions. Then render it to seperate images instead of a movie file and just take the images you need.

Though as for the rest of it you can probably set it up in a script to do it but I wouldnt' know how.
