XP ModBin trouble

edited December 2004 in Hardware
Let me start by telling you what I've done. First of all, I have an SiS 651 and I am trying to disable the onboard video. I have done it in Device Manager but Adia32 and my other video card (PCI) tells me otherwise. So I went to the SiS website and got the driver update, I looked in the XP/2k folder and found the SiS650.bin. This probably works for all 650's, since it DOES list 651 on the driver info and there are only two bins in there. So it only makes sense...

Oh yeah, I can't modify it through the BIOS. I also tried flashing the BIOS with awdflash and it keeps on saying "invalid file name" or whatever. It did work one time, but it just kept on saying "Please Wait" and the PC stopped making the scary noises that it was making. No changes though. Now the weird part... is that this morning I booted the PC and it gave me all of the BIOS options. Weird huh? I have no idea how that happened. The only thing I did was disable and then uninstall the SiS card through Device Manager.

So... I got your (Tmod) XP/NTFS fix on a disk and whatnot, I booted it. I ran ModBin and (after booting the SiS650.bin from the other disk... thanks to Tmod's RAM thing) and it loaded the BIOS. Good, right? I don't know. It went back to the 0-5 menu. Nothing. I've done it 3 times now. What is wrong? AHHH! :help:

Oh, and hi to the forums.

Let me explain that a bit more: after it was "done" loading it went back to the 0-5 menu. I couldn't edit anything in ModBin.

Ok when you bring the file in from the floppy and you want to mod it with modbin you have to place it in the ram disk drive and mod it from there.

For modbin to accept it as default you have to have it in the same folder as modbin is in. Or you will need to define the path to the file you want to mod.

If it doesn't make sense just let me know and we will go from there.
