Yes it was. Inthat category the Canon PowerShot S30 is my choice.

Check out reviews of the two camera's at Steve's Digicams. But both are good brands and you can't go wrong with Olympus or Canon.

In the price range also is the Canon A70, which I own and is a very good unit. It's the #1 ranked camera by PCWorld in that price bracket. But I'm sorry, I do not know the differences between the various models.

i see they are using different type of media.
which one is better or more wide used, cheaper.

The A70 is a good camera. I have the A60 (2.0MP instead of 3.0MP) and I love it. The best thing about it is that I can use regular AA batteries over Li-Ion battery packs.

Compact flash is more common and cheaper than xD. xD is a new format that came out no long ago. I, myself, prefer CF over xD.

More readily available media, better close up capabilities and almost foolproof are on the side of the Canon S30. Canon "S" series are above the "A" series for what it is worth.

The cameras use a USB connection to transfer the picutures.
