Xbox live problems

edited December 2004 in Science & Tech
hi,

I have wired up my xbox through my pc using an ethernet crossover cable ( windows ics connection) because my modem will only connect to my pc and not straight into my xbox.

I have had instructions that just turn on your xbox and press ocnnect and it should work straight away ( it doesnt). I have also had indstruction to go to my network setting on my pc and click "enable network sharing" , and it still doesnt work.

when i connect it says cables are connected fine, but then it says "no dns server adresses were recieved from the dhcp or pppoe server. enter the dns servers provided by your isp in netowrk settings". i am using ozemail and they seem to not be very useful but they say my modem supports xbox live and they do too.

i also went on the xbox live site and looked up what there errors mean, and let me tell you somthing , i know nothing about computers so all their tech junk means nothing to me... so can anyone (a real person) give me any suggestions as to what im doing wrong? or write down some things you have done that i might be able to try? thanks allot.

Rylan

From what others on here have experienced turn off ICS and insteac create a bridged network between the two cards on your pc. That should do the trick.
