Batteries for handheld system and walkman
I know this sounds like a weird question but I wanted to get a confirmation that alkaline batteries are much better than cheap heavy duty ones. I read they last 4 times longer and are just way better even if they cost a little more. The only reason I'm asking is because my dad is incredibly cheap and just says they're all the same. We're gonna be traveling soon and I know better than him that alkalines are way better and just wanted proof to show him.

But anyway my digital camera won't even start off of a normal set of Heavy Duty batteries but it'll run fine on Energizer E2's though still not nearly as long as the propper batteries for it.

From least performance to greatest:
heavyduty < energizer < duracell < energizer2 < duracell ultra < Lithium
Rechargeable alkaline fall towards the bottom and should not be purchased. NiCd typically fall in the lower end, especially for how long they last, but in some instances they give more power than NiMH and alkaline. NiMH are typically better in long lasting than even Duracell Ultra, but they arn't always the most powerful, and they are also extra heavy, but in most things this is the best way to go, especially today with capacities for AAs up to 2400mah, Cs up to 5000mah and Ds up to 10000mah (AAAs are pretty much the same as always at 750-850mah).
I know people who say all batteries are the same, they are sort of right, even consumer reports said something like that (so I've been told by these people), but there are still different types of batteries and brands do make a slight difference (like with Duracell vs. Energizer), but most other brands are typically equal, if they are alkaline.
