I have a LGA775, what are the benefits of going to a 64 bit chip as far as gaming goes?

Right now the only advantage of going to an Athlon 64 is that it is a better processor for gaming. That has nothing to do with the fact that it is a 64 bit proc. There are no common desktop applications or games that are 64 bit.

I havn't seen or heard of one.

64 bit is better though because it is available in the fastest speeds and the 32 bit cpus are done being made (I believe) and are not going to be made any faster, so I would choose 64 over 32 any and all times now. So if you are getting something new, get a 64, don't get a new 32 system, or otherwise you will be limited by the upgrade path the next time around.

The game was supposed to ship with support for AMD64 under windows and linux. I know for a fact there was a UT 2004 64bit demo that was released some time at the begining of the year, other than that I cant find anything else right now...

32 bit Semprons will continue to be made, and are moving to socket 939. I believe that 64 bit will not have taken over by the time we are ready for the next round of upgrades. Of course I am just taking a wild stab here.
