okay, before you smack me for owning an HP, let me just say that i'm aware of the pitfalls one should expect from that type of PC. that said...

does anyone out there have any experience w/ hp pavilion onboard video? i own a pavilion 7845 which is now just taking up space 'cause i think the onboard video went out on it. i was away from the computer for a while, returned to find what appeared to be post-screen saver, monitor power off mode, but when i moved the mouse, it never came back to life. i tried restarting, but still nothing. it will power on, but the "on" light goes out after a few seconds, and nothing ever appears on the monitor screen. a knowledgeable friend suggested that it may be the onboard video. i wonder if i were to install a a video card if this might fix my problem.

the motherboard doesn't have an AGP slot. advice? suggestions? do i need to provide more details to help you to help me?
