Opetron memory

edited January 2005 in Science & Tech
am attempting to put together a dual opteron board (msi K8T master far2 socket 940) and I when I ordered the board and processors, I just ordered the ram that Monarch computer recommended with this board. it was very unstabe, and very soon refused to boot. I never did get MSI or Monarch to return my warrenty inquires. I got really busy and the board just sat. I got araound to ordering a the same board again (I have had really good success with MSI dual Proc boards in the past), this time from newegg, but it boots just like the other one, a single slowly repeating beep no video at all.
I would like to know if I am correct about the following;
As appears to me that this board can run a single FX proc with_out_ ECC registered ram, but to use the opterons, I ?must? have registered ecc ram.

    turns out it does _need_ registered ram, at least with opterons, it's just that I was wondering about FX AMDs (socket 940) :drinkup:
