Before I say yeah or nay, is the connection between the dlink and the linksys cabled or wireless?

If it's cabled it can be done and should cause any problems. The order also doesn't matter. I'd probably go cable<-->dlink<-->linksys because I know all linksys routers can act as switches you just have to flip them in the settings.

If however the dlink<-->linksys connection is wireless then I don't think you can. Linksys routers even with upgraded seasoft firmware won't act as wireless access points which is what you need.

P.S. this should be in the networking section....

someone said you need cross over cables, like when going pc to pc or switch to switch. Is this true

no router to router you don't need crossover cables they are auto sensing. On older devices you used to need crossover cables but now you don't.
