Home page switches to default home

edited February 2005 in Science & Tech
Every few days when I fire up my laptop my homepage is changed to something like : default home...... I was hoping today it would be changed again but is was not. I dont have it typed exactly to what it changes to but I am hoping someone picks up on what it is and what is wrong.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

could be your browser got hijacked by something run adware and spybot search and destroy and see if that finds anything. Hard to say without knowing the exact page it's changing to.

Ok it just happened. First time it has happened while online. It usually happens after a shutdown. The page changes to : http://default.home/
The page never loads up it goes to the error screen that says "The page cannot be displayed". I dont see any other negative affects, other than having to re-name my home page in in Internet Explorer Tools- internet options. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... also, I have run spybot and adaware and comes up with every thing peachy.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaa!!!!!! Why did you click the link????? It's a hijacker. Update your virus databases in Spybot Search & Destroy, and Ad-Aware. Then try running them again firebird. Let us know if either finds it.
You may also want to get CWShredder™ Version 2.1 and run that too. It sometimes catches stuff that the others might miss.

In reality though, It shouldn't have been made into a link. Maybe one of our forum mods here can change it so no one else does that... hehehe. I'm still chuckling this morning about that.

I don't know if anybody here reads (Hijack This) logs. If so will someone instruct firebird on how to post them and let him know what to delete.
If not, Check out our sistersite ShortMedia.com. They have (Hijack This) on their Security Download Page. Here's their link on setting it up to post the log.
It has links to dl the program.
